MATHEW ELMORE

Mathew Elmore (1792 NC) married Lucinda (Lucy) Tait-Elmore, September 15, 1824 In Greene County, Georgia. She was the daughter of William Tait (1765-1842) and Elizabeth Westbrook (1777-1840), who were from Levenwick, Sandwick Shetland, Scotland. Both died in 1840 and 1842 in Monroe County, Georgia.
Mathew Elmore and Lucy were the parents of the following seven known children:
1. Mary A. Elmore born 1829 in Georgia.
2. Robert G. Elmore born 1831 in Georgia, and died CSA, July 8, 1865 in Fort Monroe, Virginia.
3. Jesse J. (Jefferson) Elmore born September 1, 1832, in Georgia, and died February 21, 1916 in Geneva County, Alabama.
4. Mathew M. (Maston) Elmore, Jr. was born October 27, 1842 in Henry County, Alabama and died November 19, 1903, in Sevier County, Tennessee.
5. Martha Elmore-Shipes born 1843 in Henry County, Alabama.
6. William S. Elmore was born 1844 in Henry County, Alabama and died March 4, 1863 in Tullahoma, Tennessee.
7. Daniel A. Elmore was born 1846 in Henry County, Alabama.
Four of Mathew Elmore (1792 NC)'s sons served during the Civil War CSA enlisting at Henry County, Alabama, and Jackson County, Florida.
In 1830, Mathew Elmore (1792 NC) and Lucy were living in Monroe County, Georgia, and he moved the family to Henry County, Alabama where he was made administrator of the estate of Levi Elmore at Levi's death October 27, 1837 (it is not known if he was already in Henry County in 1837 or not before Levi's death).
In 1832 Mathew Elmore drew a George Cherokee land lottery, number 110 , 13th District Fourth Section. Cherokee. Residence: Ross's: County: Monroe: granted previous to the first day of January 1838.
In 1840 Mathew was listed on the census in Henry County, Alabama with his family .
In 1841 Mathew Elmore received a land patent dated December 18, 1841 for land located in Barbour County, Alabama.
In 1850 Mathew Elmore was living with his family in Henry County, Alabama, and this is the last census he and Lucy appeared on that we have been able to find.
In 1851 Mathew received a land patent dated December 1, 1851 for land located in Dale County, Alabama. Property Range 26 E 7N 15.
In 1852 Mathew received a land patent dated January 1, 1852 for land located in Henry County, Alabama, Property Range NW/SW Section 11, 7N 26E. Also in 1853, Mathew's son Robert G. Elmore received a land patent dated August 1, 1853 for land located in Dale County, Alabama.
