William S. Elmore

William S. Elmore was born in 1844 in Henry County, Alabama, near Abbeville to the parents of Mathew Elmore (1792 NC) and Lucinda (Lucy) Tait-Elmore. He married Elizabeth Ellis-Elmore on May 16, 1862 in Jackson County, Florida. No children were born to their marriage. He died at the age of 19 years old during the Civil War in Tennessee.
William S. Elmore entered the Civil War in Jackson County, Florida January 13, 1862, as Private Co. G, 3rd Fla Inf Regt. He died in Tennessee and is buried in Maplewood Cemetery in Tullahoma, Coffee County, Tennessee in the Confederate Plot along with 407 Conederates, many of whom died in one of the hospitals established when Tullahoma was headquarters for the Army of Tennessee during the first six months of 1863.
